● How to use ScanNote ? – WorldPenScan Series

ScanNote cloud learning platform offers four main functions: AI Reading Buddy, Scan & Notes, Reading Assistance, and Translation.

Users can select and operate the desired functions based on their needs.

1. How to Connect the Pen Scanner:

Reminder: When using the pen scanner with ScanNote features, please make sure to connect the pen scanner first.

● How to Connect to a Computer (Win/Mac/Chromebook)

STEP 1: On the scanning pen, select the [ScanNote] function. The screen on the pen will display a QR code, connection instructions, and the Pen ID.

STEP 2: On your computer, open a browser and go to the ScanNote webpage (https://wps.evolaclass.com). Enter any of the following functions: [AI Reading Buddy], [Scan & Notes], [Reading Assistant], or [Translation], select your pen scanner model, input the [Pen ID] shown on the pen scanner, and click the [Connect] button to establish the connection.

● How to Connect to a Mobile Device (iOS/Android)

STEP 1: On the scanning pen, select the [ScanNote] function. The screen on the pen will display a QR code, connection instructions, and the Pen ID.

STEP 2: On your mobile phone, use the camera to scan the QR code on the pen scanner. Once the ScanNote webpage opens, navigate to the [AI Reading Buddy], [Scan & Notes], [Reading Assistant], or [Translation] function to establish the connection.

2. ScanNote Features:

Reading Sessions

Create a New Session

(1) Enter book name or article title:

Type the name of a book or article — ideal for fun, popular, or non-curricular books, articles, worksheets, or handouts. You can use titles from the AI Library or any other preferred reading materials to create a personalized reading session.

(2) Select Learning Level:

This helps the AI match stories and explanations to the appropriate skill level.

2. Start Scanning

While reading, if students come across any sentences or paragraphs they don’t understand, simply scan the text with the pen scanner and send it to the system.

The AI will instantly help by explaining the content, highlighting key vocabulary, creating easy-to-read summaries, and even sharing fun facts to make learning more enjoyable!

💡 Scanning Tips:

By default, the system scans line by line and submits immediately.
To scan multiple lines at once or slow down the scanning speed, click , then click after scanning.

👉 Note: You can change the learning level anytime at the top of the page.

3. AI Reading Buddy Assistance

AI Reading Buddy offers four assistance options—[Make it easy], [Word & Phrase help], [What’s the big idea], and [Tell me more]—based on the content you scan.

(1) Make it easy – Explains the text in a simple and easy-to-understand way, and lists related common questions that can be clicked to view detailed explanations.

(2) Word & Phrase help – Organizes the vocabulary from the text; click a word to view its meaning and usage.

(3) What’s the big idea – Presents a summary of the main points, helping you quickly grasp the core concepts.

(4) Tell me more – Extends into advanced topics and interesting facts related to the text, offering more directions for exploration and learning.

Vocabulary Sets

Built-in vocabulary books designed for exam preparation are available for learning. You can test your learning progress through mini vocabulary games or create your own vocabulary books to add words requiring extra practice.

When you add words to "My Favorites" on the pen scanner, the corresponding vocabulary will be automatically uploaded to the Vocabulary Sets feature once the device is successfully connected and paired, making it easy for you to review and continue learning.

Lookup Records

When you look up words with the pen scanner, the vocabulary will be automatically uploaded to the Lookup Records feature after the device is successfully connected and paired. You can then add unfamiliar words from your lookup history to your vocabulary sets for further practice and review.

Reminder: Please make sure the pen scanner is connected and paired before uploaded, otherwise the data will not be uploaded automatically.

2. Scan & Notes

After connecting the pen scanner, you can scan book text and sync it to ScanNote, as well as manage text excerpts and audio notes uploaded from the pen scanner.

👉 Note: If you need to scan directly and send it to applications such as MS Word, please open the ScanNote webpage (https://wps.evolaclass.com), go to the "Scan & Notes" feature, and click the (Download Software) button in the top right corner of the screen to download and install the client (Windows/Mac) software. After successfully connecting as instructed, you can begin scanning.

3. Reading Assistant

Reminder: Please log in or register for an Evolaclass account before using Reading Assistant features.

After connecting the pen scanner, you can use it to extract text and customize your own reading mode (e.g., background, dyslexia-friendly fonts, font colors), line focus, and reading-aloud settings for an immersive reading experience.

4. Translation

You can use the pen scanner to scan entire sentences or paragraphs for full-sentence or full-paragraph translations.
